Rugmini Smruthi Trust run orphanage at Aluva

As Periyar rampaged the banks at Aluva one of the most affected areas were Kadungalloor. RST have an orphanage near to the river, and it was flooded with almost 6ft of water for almost 3 days.

The orphanage, run exclusively by women trustees headed by Smt Usha Varma , house 25 girls of various age, all studying .

Their vocational training as well as a source of income, around 11 sewing machines were damaged in the floods.

Given the sensitive nature of the machines it will be very difficult to salvage any.

We have done a first hand inspection of the damage and have assured them to get back with a list of machines which we can get them from our fund drive.

Their Wish list :

Some sports equipment, musical instruments, a TV, in place of their damaged, some funds for civil repairs.
